Simulation & Safety Programs
CAPE’s programs are designed to strengthen the cognitive, technical and behavioral skills necessary for healthcare professionals to achieve optimal performance delivering patient care. Our flexible curriculum immerses healthcare professionals in dynamic clinical scenarios using sophisticated patient simulators, human confederates and real medical equipment to recreate a highly realistic environment in which to train. State-of-the-art technology records the trainees’ actions for critical analysis during constructive debriefings that follow each scenario. The goal of all programs is to enable healthcare professionals to provide outstanding care to patients and their families.
Healthcare professionals who work as a team exponentially enhance their skills by training together at CAPE. Our programs create opportunities for all members of the healthcare team – physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, first responders and hospital administrators – to work together in resolving highly realistic, challenging situations. From novice to expert, CAPE tailors each program to meet the needs of professionals in the fields of pediatrics, neonatology, obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, anesthesia, emergency medicine and other clinical domains.
Behavioral skills are a primary focus of learning at CAPE. All programs include training in the areas of dynamic decision making, effective crisis resource management, morale building and recognition of individual and team skill sets.
Programs range from four-hour to multi-day experiences. Several programs meet the requirements of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) for continuing medical education. See program descriptions for continuing medical education opportunities.
