CAPE Training Program Overview

IntubationCenter for Advanced Pediatric and Perinatal Education (CAPE) programs are designed to strengthen the cognitive, technical and behavioral skills necessary for neonatal, pediatric and obstetric health care professionals to achieve optimal performance. Our flexible curriculum offers challenging experiences for novices and experts alike in a safe and constructive learning environment.

Health care professionals who work as a team exponentially enhance their skills by training together. CAPE’s team training focuses on dynamic decision making, effective crisis management, morale building and recognition of individual and team skill sets. All events in the simulator are recorded using multiple cameras on time-coded videotape for review during formal debriefing sessions. Training programs range from four to 20 participants.

NRP and PALS documentation are available for CAPE courses.

CAPE training programs are typically full-day experiences involving:

  • Introduction to human patient simulators, medical equipment and other resources
  • Active participation in challenging emergency scenarios
  • Constructive debriefings with video review following each scenario
  • Emphasis on training for multidisciplinary teams
