CAPE Research

The Center for Advanced Pediatric and Perinatal Education (CAPE) functions not only as a training center, but also as a human performance research laboratory. CAPE research focuses on the development of:

  • Simulation- and virtual reality-based curricula
  • Performance assessment tools for trainees and instructors
  • Debriefing guidelines
  • Creation of novel technologies to simulate human fetal, neonatal, pediatric and obstetric anatomy and physiology
  • Assessment of the effect of simulation-based training on human performance in high-risk domains and patient safety
  • Incorporation of simulation-based training into hospital culture
  • Financial comparison of simulation-based and traditional training
  • Integration of simulation-based methodologies into NRP, PALS and ACLS
